Delta Tau Delta and JDRF have formed a national partnership focused on philanthropic endeavors and community service. The partnership will engage Delta Tau Delta’s 130 chapters and colonies on college campuses nationwide to work closely with local JDRF chapters in order to raise funds and awareness about type 1 diabetes (T1D). JDRF is the worldwide leader for research toward curing, treating and preventing T1D and its complications.
The Omicron Delts are proud to do their part in hosting events each semester to raise money for JDRF. In the Spring of 2017, we introduced our 1st annual Deep Dish with the Delts. Brothers drive to Chicago and bring back hundreds of slices of famous Lou Malnati's Deep Dish pizza to sell to benefit JDRF. It has become a favorite by many Greeks and others in the community and we continue to strive to make it bigger and better every year!
In the Fall of 2019, we hosted our first annual Delt Dogs philanthropy event. Along with our theme of Chicago favorites from our Fall event, we sell famous Portillo's Chicago-style hotdogs. Along with food, we bring in therapy dogs for students to enjoy and take a mental break from the stress of college. This event helps us achieve both goals of raising money for JDRF through our food profits while also raising awareness for students' mental health by giving them an environment to enjoy the company of therapy dogs.
